Author Blog Challenge #16

Did you publish your book as a traditionally printed book, an eBook, or both? How did you come to your decision? Which company (ies) did you use for printing and distribution? How did you select them?

I initially published in print form as I had pre-orders from people wanting a traditional book and I wanted to place copies in libraries. Later I published an eBook version available for direct purchase.

At this time, a few established printing companies had the monopoly on the market and all charged premium prices, so I shopped around the new publishers springing up. I found a great company who gave me a competitive deal, as well as taking an interest in the project keeping contact through phone calls and emails. I was pleased with the finished product and referred several writer friends to them when they were ready to publish. The company has grown significantly in the ensuing years, and their prices have grown accordingly – along with the services they offer. They are no longer a budget printer and this is why I won’t name or recommend them here, as I believe a bit of research will find cheaper options.

  1. I don't think anyone should limit themselves to just an e-book or just a print book. Way to go, Merlene! WRITE ON!
